Today we look at the grammar point “as (adjective) as” and the word ‘same’.
We can use this form when we want to show that two things are the same.
He is as tall as she is.
The cake is as delicious as the tart is.
I am as tired as you are.
Note: Adverbs can be used as well.
I like cake as much as she does.
She finished the test as quickly as he did.
Although “same” is an adjective, it cannot be used in this way.
Why? Because the meaning of ‘same’ and “as…..as” are the same.
Using them together creates a double meaning.
To avoid this, we use “the same as”.
